# VS Code integration

> Configure TermMate in VS Code with editor-tab chat, auto-detected Claude and Codex binaries, custom agent paths, and Plan Mode defaults.

TermMate for VS Code is designed to be powerful yet unobtrusive.

## Features

* **Clean Workspace**: The chat interface lives in an editor tab, not the sidebar.
* **Auto-Detection**: Automatically finds installed Claude and Codex binaries.
* **Command Palette**: Access all features via `Cmd+Shift+P`.

## Configuration

You can customize TermMate behavior in `Settings -> Extensions -> TermMate`:

* **Agent Paths**: Manually specify where your `claude` or `codex` binaries are located.
* **Default Mode**: Choose between standard or Plan Mode for new chats.

## Shortcuts

* `Cmd+Shift+P` -> `TermMate: Start Chat`
